Beginner Stock Market Investing, Stock Market Investing Advice
When you are looking through the stock market listings in order to decide on your first stock purchases there is generally a strong temptation to focus on the companies you know well and trust. As a strategy for a stock market beginner investing in these types of companies is a valid choice. If it is your favorite shop / restaurant / soft drink then the chances are that it also the preference of many other people and therefore it meets one of the most important criteria for any business, in that it has a good and loyal customer base.
The idea I want to get across here is that you don’t need to over complicate your first stock market purchases if you don’t have the time, the inclination or the patience to plough through all the analyst’s comments, beginner investing sites and stock market information which is available.
Once you start reading up on the subject it is all too easy to lose track of what buying stocks is essentially all about. You are buying a small piece of a company, and the result of your investment is largely going to hinge on that company’s performance and financial results.
If you find yourself saying “who are they?” or “I don’t even know what that means” when looking at details of a potentially interesting investment then you either need to research the company or move on to something you are more familiar with. If you see that the bank your nephew works in is listed as being a good potential purchase then your connection with the institution might give you an extra incentive to choose their stock over another banks.
Beginner investing doesn’t have to be only accepting the advice given by experience traders. If you think that your favorite supermarket chain has improved its quality and is getting a lot more trade then before then maybe it is worth buying some of their shares. Doing a little research and finding out a bit more about their recent market performance is never going to be a bad idea, but sometimes going with your instinct is the best thing you can do.
